Finally some outside time

Here's something I never thought about when we got pregnant with an October baby. He was born right when it got cold outside and by cold, it was freezing the week he was born. So we have been trapped inside for the past almost 4 *sobs* months. This week we were able to go on two, yes TWO, walks. Lets just say Walker wasn't too happy about the bright sun, the high winds, or the fact that he was strapped into another form of the dreaded car seat, but after about 10 minutes he LOVED it.
Walks will be a part of our daily life very soon. This momma wants to get her butt into shape and raise a baby that loves to be outside.

C25K day 1

The color run is April 26th and I WILL run it this year.

In preparation for that run, I am starting Couch to 5K. For anyone who doesn't know, C25K works by doing interval training. So for the first week I run for 60seconds, walk for 90 seconds, then it increases every week. You run 3 times a week for 30 minutes for 8 weeks and by the end you can run a 5K. Awesome right?

So I put all of my other exercises on hold. I have always wanted to be a runner and this is a great start. I thought it would be a lot harder then it was. Once I pushed through to the half way point I was actually enjoying it, yeah me enjoying exercising. Who knew that could happen? I am really excited to start this program.

Walker did fantastic for Ben while I worked out. I was gone for about an hour and when I came back Ben had him asleep on his chest in the rocking chair singing to him. My heart melted. I adore when they bond like that.

Walker 3 months

I just realized I never posted Walker's 3 month post! Whoops!

Walker was 3 months on 1/29/14

Daily Life
We are still going with the flow. Walker rolled over on the day he turned 3 months (from back to belly). We have yet to see him roll from belly to back yet. I don't force a lot of tummy time on him though. He found his toes a few days before turning 3 months. He constantly has them in his hands now. It makes diaper changes a bit harder haha. He is fully in 3-6 month clothes, and 3/6 month sleepers. The 3 month sleepers are WAY to short for him. As for facial expressions, this kid is full of them. You can tell exactly what he is thinking from the look he gives you.

Sleep
We have a bedtime routine (that I am about to change!) We start our routine with a bath at 8pm, baby massage, snuggles, nurse/read a book. He is usually out by 9:30. He then proceeds to wake at about 4:00 and 6:00 each night. The time we wake up fully for the day varies from as early as 8 to as late as 11. Boy loves his sleep unless its a nap, then he hates it haha. I want to change the time back to bath at 7, bed at 8 but we just went through a sleep regression of waking every hour to hour and a half. I am hoping we are on the other fence from that one now. I don't know if I can take much more of that. So I am waiting another week or two to mess with bedtime.

Nursing
We are still going strong and honestly better then ever. He is still stuck on using the shield, but to be honest it doesn't bother me much anymore. I enjoy nursing so much. It rarely hurts now (it took a whole lot of praying to help with that) and I no longer feel like giving up. There were a few days when I really considered quitting due to the pain. I even saw a lactation consultant who didn't help at all.
Right now we are debating when to start solids. I am wanting to wait until 5 months, but I will take the pediatricians advice into consideration. Walker is just doing so well with breast milk that I don't see the need to start solids just yet. I am buying all the equipment to make the food myself starting next week! I will post about that as it goes along.

Magical crockpot

This week I read a post on the bump.com about women using their crockpot to make cooking dinner with an infant easier. I have had a crockpot since we got married and up until this week have used it maybe 3 times.

Yesterday I used it to make BBQ chicken sandwiches. HOLYMOLEY they were yummy. I also used those bags you put in first to make cleaning up easier. Yup. I am in love.

Why have I never thought to do this before?!

So, I have plans for chicken tacos tomorrow and a roast on Saturday. Any other moms out there love their crockpot? Got any special recipes for me? I will be using this nonstop for the next few weeks.
